About YWT


YWT is a non-profit organization that provides a potential platform for youth to make positive impacts in their communities. It was founded in 2015 to provide its very best of resources focused on youth skill development. Our mission at YWT is to bring social change, innovation, and prosperity in the society by empowering and mobilizing our youth with the help of art, media, culture, and technology.



About the Program


The Mentorship And Production Grant Program aim to make the filmmaker's industries profession more inclusive by sharing the professional experiences of our mentors' members with a wide range of filmmakers.


Mentees will be chosen and accepted by the YWT and then paired with a mentor. They will have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the craft, focus their career objectives, and hone skills. Moreover, each mentee will receive a film production grant to produce a short film. The number of accepted mentees will vary based on available mentors and funds and the applicant pool.


Mentor schedules permitting, mentees will receive a minimum of one meeting with their mentors a month for five months via email, Zoom, Skype, or phone. Additional interactions or relationships will be at the sole discretion of the mentor.


The mentor will be available to discuss professional questions and issues relating to film production, career growth, and objectives.






The YWT Vision Mentorship And Production Grant Program are designed for working professionals with a deep interest in pursuing a career as a Filmmakers. 


  • Successful applicants will have significant experience in filmmaking.
  • The program is open to local applicants in Yemen only.




Application Requirements



  • A serious interest in pursuing a professional career as a filmmaker.
  • Minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant professional production or on-set experience
  • 18 years of age or older

  • Bio 200 words maximum
  • Headshot
  • Artistic Statement: In a short essay (500 words maximum), include your reasons for becoming a filmmaker, your short- and long-term goals, and any personal philosophy on film.



Application Schedule:


  • Call for applications: Wednesday 23 June 2020.
  • Deadline for application: Monday 6 July 2020 at 11:59 PM Yemen time.
  • Results announcement: Thursday 23 July 2020.




Application Structure



  • Fill in the application form with all the required information in English
  • Submit all supporting documents mentioned in the application as attachments along with the Application Form
  • E-mail the form with the supporting documents to before 11:59 PM Yemen time on Monday 6 July 2020.

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.

  • The decision of the project team will be final and cannot be contested in any manner. YWT reserves the right to delay announcements for any reason. There is no guarantee of advancement or acceptance into the program.
